The Right Mix: A Contemporary Before & After
Affinity designer Tim Huber transformed a dark, outdated kitchen into this bright, gathering space for our client who appreciated Tim’s eye for the overall design: “He was great at finding the right mix of materials and making the ‘right’ clean contemporary design choices.”
Before – The original space was dark and outdated.
After – Our client wanted a bright, contemporary space. One of the design solutions involved widening the wall behind the range for a more dramatic backdrop for the range and hood.
Our client likes to host neighbors for casual meals, so Tim designed a wider and longer island as a central gathering space with bar seating. The wider island also created additional storage cabinets under the stool over hang at the back – something the old kitchen didn’t have.
Motorized lift upper cabinets open and close with a touch.
White high gloss upper cabinets contrast with darker high gloss wood grain base cabinets and make the space feel lighter and brighter.
Every base cabinet in the new kitchen is a drawer bank. Our client loves the convenience and organization benefits of drawers. Note how the drawer face is trimmed in aluminum edgebanding for a gleaming metallic contrast to the fronts.
